Angie & Michael :: The North Chapel :: El Cortez Hotel, San Diego, CA

Angie & Michael were such an appreciative couple to work with. They really went out of their way to take care of all their vendors and even went as far as getting all of us custom engraved shot glasses! Check out the last pic on this post. It’s all of us taking up Angie & Michael on a “round of shots” offer; what they didn’t know is that us vendors asked for ginger ale soda instead of the real thing lol! That was us vendors lookin’ out for you two! You didn’t want a bunch of blurry photos of the floor did you? ;)

I have to say that one of my biggest highlights was the garter removal process. I say process because there was a collection of all sorts of hilarious gag stuff awaiting Michael under Angie’s dress/chair. Starting with an Indiana Jones hat, then whip, then ball and chain, then some sexy XL granny panties with “I love Michael” written on them, loved it! Hilarious.

Bouchér gets “photo of the month” :: www.WeddingVendorsDirectory.com

Marissa and I were just informed by www.WeddingVendorsDirectory.com that one of our recent wedding images was awarded “Photo of the Month” for our image of Brooke & Jerrod at The Darlington House in La Jolla, CA. Marissa and I are honored to be on such a great site as it provides an easy way for engaged couples to find vendors that suit their specific wedding needs.

Studio Grand Opening a huge success! :: A big THANK YOU to everyone!

So the grand opening party for our studio was last week and it honestly couldn’t have gone better! Over 150 people showed up at one point; from clients to vendors to friends and family, it was seriously a full house! It was so great chatting with everyone and just observing them enjoy themselves. To keep everyone entertained we had an open tour of the studio, champagne and catered appetizers, a projector slideshow of all sorts of photos and videos, and then Melissa Vaughan playing live music. We also had a premiere viewing of Marissa & Kimee’s Boudoir Divas Workshop promo video that will be happening in Paris, France of next year. A big thanks to Vu & Lon from The Bui Brothers for an absolutely amazing job creating that video. Also thanks for coming out and supporting us Vu, glad you could watch the reaction to the premiere firsthand. Marissa and I had never thrown a party before but with the help of our amazing staff the elements just all came together. Oh also congrats to all our raffle winners! Thank you again everyone!

SHOUT OUTS:

First a big thanks to our wonderful studio staff for making this all possible…Crystal Carr, Deena Cormier, and Amanda McMillan. Kimee (www.kimberleewest.com) thank you so, so much for putting together the photo/video slideshow in record time! We love ya! Thanks for takin’ some snapshots too. We also wanted to thank Melissa Vaughan for providing beautiful live music for all our guests. You rock! Another big thanks goes out to Haydee @ Haydee’s Creative Flowers for letting us borrow all the candles and vases; great idea Haydee they looked sooo good! And thank you Maggie @ The Invisible Chef for providing the excellent variety of foods for everyone; I’m still working on all those leftover special cheeses at home! Oh and another thanks goes out to Crystal’s husband, Brian for volunteering to handle the champagne station; we owe you one big time! :) Thanks to my good buddy Jon Hasz @ Ramona Music Center for helping me with Melissa’s P.A. Thank you Eris (our cousin) for helping to prepare the studio sets for the grand opening! Thanks Melissa & Adam for making the long drive to come and support us, hope the canvas looks good on the wall!

Bouchér gets the cover! :: SD Style Weddings Magazine :: Editorial Dec. Jan. 08 Issue

Marissa and I had the amazing opportunity to shoot for one of the top Bridal Mags earlier this year (San Diego Style Weddings Magazine) and recently found out that our shots will be used for two different covers! One for Dec/Jan of this year and Aug/Sept of 2009. Several other shots taken will also be used for editorial pieces within certain issues such as the cake images below and other bridal gown shots. Some of these shots were scanned in so be forgiving on the color matching! :).

The shoot for the bridal gowns was on day 1 while day 2 consisted of all cake shots. Half the shots were done here at our Sorrento Valley studio while the outdoor shots were nearby at a dead end road location. Props to my good friend Brian MacKenzie for allowing us to use his 1965 Lincoln Continental during the shoot. This gave the cover shot below a perfect compliment since the dress was vintage inspired.

The shoot overall was a great experience for Marissa and I. We immediately knew that our biggest asset was to use everything that is unique to our brand and style of shooting to come up with our own spin on the look of the shots. Examples being that we used our own lighting, custom backdrops, and posing that is signature to our studio. Our boudoir portraiture style had a huge influence on all the shots as you’ll see some of the backdrops used for even the cake shots of all things. We didn’t really have a concrete plan for all the shots, which was intentional on our part. We knew what was available and also knew we would have more fun if we just ran with it loosely. Marissa and I are used to shooting on the fly since weddings are exactly that; so it worked out well. The outdoor shots were definitely at a tough time of the day out in direct sunlight but with the use of a single reflector (thanks Bri!) the lighting didn’t come off as harsh as it was in person.

Though stressful at times, knowing that while you’re shooting, you have up to 10 people at a time all behind you(stylists, hair/makeup artists, florists) observing, it’s encouraging to know that we performed and we’ll be able to handle that type of shooting environment in the future. We’re so thankful that Dena (SDSW Magazine Owner) even considered our studio in the first place and are extremely excited that her and the staff at SDSW were so happy with the shots.

The models were also really great; thank you Alexis & Niki. You were both a true pleasure to work with.  A big shout out goes to Haydee, Ellie, Joie, Dena, Kimberlee West, Crystal, Deena C., and Brian for all their help; as we could not have pulled it off without you guys!

I also included some extra shots that we took that day that were some of our faves.

Boucher Grand Open House! Nov 13th

We are finally celebrating that we are in our new studio and all set up. For those of you who we haven’t mentioned it to, in April we moved into our dream studio. A 4500 sq foot “New York Style” loft in Sorrento Valley. It has taken a lot of sweat to get it looking the way we want it to and now we are ready to celebrate.

We would absolutely love it if you could come, the invite is open to everyone (friends, family, vendors, past, present, and potential clients). Please just RSVP to info@boucherphotography.com by the 11th to let us know that you will be here. We are in Sorrento Valley and will send the address via email when we receive the RSVP.

The best part is that Melissa Vaughan will be playing live. She is awesome. Check her out at http://www.melissavaughan.com/. Live for the first time ever she will be be playing the wonderful song that she wrote exclusively for “The Boudoir Divas.” Photo above by a Boudoir Diva, Kimberlee West.
