Sara & Erik :: Estancia Hotel, La Jolla

Sara & Erik are the kind of people that you just wanna hug whenever you see ‘em. They have such a friendly, warm nature about them that you just gotta love. These two fit like a glove. Their Rabbi was a crack up during both the traditional Jewish Ketubah signing and the ceremony itself; he had a great sense of humor and it really got everyone in a spirited, laughing mood. As you’ll see by the reception photos, this bunch was definitely out to have a good time so Marissa and I we’re lovin’ being kept on our toes at all times. The wedding events were a total success and by the time we left the reception we knew they had the best day of their lives. Congrats you two! :)

MarIsa & Marshall in Downtown Gaslamp!

The Bouchers are out of town at the moment but asked me (Crystal) to ensure that MarIsa and Marshall got to see some teasers of their recent Engagement shoot! Marissa and Weston had the pleasure of photographing this fun-loving couple in San Diego’s Downtown Gaslamp Quarter and are looking forward to their upcoming wedding in October. Here’s a little more about the future Mr. & Mrs. Plouffe…

ABOUT THE BRIDE: MarIsa (yes, the “I” is supposed to be capitalized ;)!) loves spur of the moment road trips, being active and playing sports. She feels very fortunate to have such wonderful family and friends. She just received an M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology (wow!) and will begin working in a K-8 school district next month!

ABOUT THE GROOM: Marshall is laid back, loves baseball, and works for an insurance company. His other loves include The Dodgers, the Lakers, and his beautiful fiance, MarIsa.

ENGAGEMENT: Marshall surprised MarIsa on Valentine’s Day ‘07 by flying form LA to Sacramento to pop the question!

ABOUT THE BIG DAY: The Wedding Ceremony will take place at The Immaculata on USD campus followed by a Reception at Coronado Community Center.

THE HAPPY COUPLE ARE MOST EXCITED ABOUT: Being with their family and friends to celebrate their love and commitment to each other.

Best Wishes you two!

The future Mr. & Mrs. Sunny Garcia

Weston and I (well Weston…details to follow) had the immense pleasure of photographing World Champ surfer Sunny Garcia and his gorgeous fiancee, Colleen. This is the man who paved the way for all the surfers of today and is basically a household name in the surfing world; he’s a 100% bad-ass. I mean the guy’s got his own Afflicition clothing collection and has won the triple crown 6 times. We met up with them at La Jolla Shores and within five minutes of getting to know them I, Marissa, stepped on a tiny bee and didn’t get to partake in the photo shoot.

Sunny and Colleen were so understanding right off the bat. As soon as they knew I wasn’t feeling well they immediately offered to reschedule for a shoot the next day instead, after they had just drove all the way down from LA…they were willing to drive down a second time!

I swear this must have been the world’s most potent bee because within a few minutes I couldn’t see straight and was clutching my swelling throat looking for the nearest life guard. I was having a real tough time breathing and convinced that my last moments may actually be at my fav place in the world, the beach. I had left Weston to continue shooting letting him believe that I was just going to get some benedryl from the life guard station. I could tell this was going to be an awesome shoot and I didn’t want Weston to be distracted worrying about me. (He totally babies me). One ambulance ride and eppy shot later I was good to go, mostly just embarrassed that my first ride in an ambulance was from a bee. I’m still having trouble walking and my full body hives are just now going away, sheesh.

Needless to say from the photos below, Weston still did a killer job shooting solo. I knew he would. Especially with such an easy-going, in-love couple. You guys look like rockstars. And you guys said you weren’t very romantic, ha! These are some seriously steamy pics!

And here I am, meanwhile, oh boy do I look super glamorous next to these two! Serious sarcasm.

Me and Marilyn waiting for Weston to pick us up at the hospital. I found Marilyn for $20 bucks in the giftshop. She will go perfect in my boudoir dressing room. Again, my glamourous appeal astounds me.

Behind the Scenes

Hi all! It’s Crystal here blogging for my first time!

Well, you’ve all seen the incredible images that the Bouchér Family captured at my recent wedding. I just want to share with everyone how blessed and grateful I feel to be a part of this team. Marissa and Weston went so far above and beyond to ensure that I end up with the best images possible. And, wow, did they succeed! I also want to thank Kimee and Deena for capturing so many awesome shots! I don’t know how to repay such a priceless act of kindness. You girls rock.

The Bouchérs got to experience something new when attending my wedding. They were photographers and guests. They were “Photoguests”! I would like to share some images that were in a dark, hidden folder destined for archives.. I wasn’t able to pick up a camera that day, but that doesn’t mean I can’t share my point of view :).

Here’s a behind (hee hee) the scenes look of the BP Crew on my wedding day…

To all of you soon-to-be Brides & Grooms out there, I want to assure you that you are in great hands. Marissa and Weston are so experienced and knowledgeable, you will be so thankful to have them there on your big day! They were everywhere throughout the reception! Who knows what my new hubby and I would have done if Marissa hadn’t instructed us on how to cut the cake?! I know it sounds silly, but you think you know until 200 people are staring at you! And, by the way, thanks Weston for the tip you gave me to avoid hitting the overhead chandelier when tossing the bouquet! I love you guys!

Anya & Aron’s E Session in Carlsbad

Anya and Aron were so fun to photograph. We waited for that perfect golden hour and you can just see how perfect the light quality was. We cannot wait to shoot your wedding guys, we know it will be a blast. Thanks for the laughs…

Kind words!

Julie (of Julie and Kent) recently sent this sweet email. We  can’t tell  you guys how much it  means to hear how much you value your photos. We love our job and are very thankful to have such wonderful clients! You guys rock!

“So Kent is of course at work until late… all the bridesmaids came over and looked at the pics from the disks. We watched as this fantastic show of pictures whizzed by the screen and relived all of the wonderful memories of the big day. We had a lot of laughs and tears (and a few bottles of wine)  You two are amazing, You are so blessed with this talent. I am so thankful that I found you and so thankful you were available to capture our wedding day. The pictures are so GREAT! Not only did Kent and I find the best photographers EVER, we found two new fantastic, fabulous friends!!! Thank you SOOO much!

I can’t wait until we get pregnant and you can take our pictures again! We adore you guys!

Jackie & Kelly get their sea legs!

What a fun couple! Jackie & Kelly were a blast to shoot. They really knew how to have a good time together and had a great sense of humor to boot. We shot down by the Midway in downtown San Diego by one of the fishing boat piers. We also met a real life fisherman who let us up on his boat. This guy was the real deal, he used to do the whole deadliest catch crab fishing thing but has since found less intense forms of fishing; can’t blame him, that’s a gnarly scene. We shot most everything at a high ISO with available light and the moods came out really well. The only processing done as with most our blogs is just camera raw tweaks but I think that’s all these needed. By the way, thanks for the drink and good company you guys! (poor Marissa had diet coke because she forgot her ID, I had mine though sucka!)

Weston’s Band, Spero Lumina

A lot of you may not know that Weston has in a band for almost 10 years now called Spero Lumina (formerly TwentyOneRest) They are so flippin’ good! They have a show coming up on July 17th at Brick by Brick. @ 10:30 pm. They recently recorded a few songs so I coerced them into a photo shoot. Being that they are all close friends that I have known since high school as well, it was hard to concentrate on taking photos and not just laugh my head off. They had trouble taking it seriously as well but here a few of the shots.

Crystal and Brian Carr!

What a freakin’ great day! Congrats from all of us Crystal and Brian! Thank you so much for letting us be a big part of it. You two couldn’t have asked for a more fun, memorable, beautiful day. Oh and thanks for the the Michael Buble dance request for us, that rocked since Weston and I always want to dance at weddings. You know us well and it really meant a lot. And while we are on the subject of dancing, your families are so much fun, man can they all dance. We loved it!

Batter Up! Danielle & Kenoli’s Engagement Shoot

Danielle & Kenoli’s engagement shoot was really cool because they brought along Baseball Jerseys, bats, baseballs, mitts, etc so it just brought a fun element to certain shots. Kenoli is a very talented player himself so he looked like quite the natural on the Palomar Baseball field while Danielle complimented him very well with her upbeat and incredibly sweet presence. Danielle & Kenoli also arranged for the field tenant to keep the field open late and gave Kenoli access to put their wedding date on the scoreboard!

The shoot began in a somewhat comedic mood because we seriously showed up, shook hands, and it was “go team!”. We literally began running all over the field racing against the setting sun (see pic below). The light was gorgeous but it was moving quicker than expected so it was pretty fast-paced compared to most shoots. Although I think we all enjoyed the excitement of moving so quick through everything. Danielle and Kenoli were such good listeners and just busted out everything we threw at them. Danielle also had a bunch of really cool ideas for shots so it was the ideal scenario being that we had such limited time to nail it. All in in all, the shoot was HOME RUN!

*Check out a shot below of Marissa, Danielle and Kenoli as we’re literally racing against the setting sun. Also check out the shot where their wedding date on the scoreboard, NICE!
