Collages.net :: Years of Outstanding Service & Product

Marissa and I wanted to give a shout out to our friends over at Collages.net. Our studio has been utilizing their services for many years now; among which include online event hosting, reprints, gallery wraps, albums and much, much more. We’re so grateful to have found them at the early stages of our studio’s growth as it’s made our business run so much smoother internally and for our clients as well.

We especially like the features and functionality that come along with their premium event hosting. Once logged online, our clients have the option to view their images in a full-screen slideshow fashion within an interface that not only is extremely user-friendly, but is also very professional looking and easy on the eyes. There’s also social media links to facebook along with a shared folder option for clients choosing their favorite images which they can then also easily order reprints with a few simple clicks. They also have an outstanding reprint lab and their customer service has been the absolute best in the industry that we’ve found thus far. They actually listen to the studios they work with, take feedback, and implement anything they can to raise the standard. Collages.net also helps your studio with marketing tips and ways to enhance the image of your studio.

We heard through the grapevine that Collages.net will be making a big announcement come this April so be sure to check in with them as I have a feeling it will be a huge incentive for photographers who may be looking for a one stop shop for all their needs.

We want to personally thank Kevin, Abbey, and Deirdre for showcasing our images over the years, we’re truly honored! If you’re a photographer visiting our blog, be sure to check them out, you won’t be sorry!

The Boudoir Divas :: Photoshoot with Becker

You may know that I (Marissa) also shoot boudoir photography at our Bouchér Studio here in San Diego. Our studio is on it’s way to become the next Disneyland of all boudoir photography studios, if I can help it ;). It’s called THE BOUDOIR DIVAS SAN DIEGO! Ladies we invite you to check us out as we just won Bridal Insider’s People’s Choice Award for San Diego’s best boudoir photographer!

And, hopefully you all know Kimberlee by now. She is one of the other “Boudoir Divas” as she and I came up with the name together a couple years ago when we started educating for boudoir photography and doing boudoir photography workshops. She is now about to hit the road for a “boudoir tour” bringing boudoir photography to your city. And Las Vegas is the first on her list!
If you are interested email info@theboudoirdivas.com

She and I are starting a new boudoir photography adventure together so we wanted some promo photos. This was my first official photo session. Weston, my hubby, takes photos of me all the time, but that’s cake. It is hard to feel silly in front of someone you have shared a bathroom with for 7 years!

The self-proclaimed male diva of photography, BECKER, was kind enough to tolerate The Boudoir Divas’ nonsense for a few hours and take some photos of us. I have to say that it was nerve wracking to be in front of the camera. K has quite a natural ability and ease with her graceful long limbs. I was very impressed by her and her moves. I, on the other hand, felt a little stuck in cement at times, but I can say that I definitely can identify with my clients a little bit more now. Visit www.thebecker.com to see all the images and crazy/fun video of him editing some of K’s dance moves.

On another funny note, when Becker twittered that he was doing a photo shoot with “The Boudoir Divas” everyone thought that we were doing a boudoir photography shoot for him! Hilarious. -M

56 comments = $56 for World Vision

Last month we blogged that we want to do a mini fund drive for World Vision’s “Girls in Crisis Fund”. We had 360 people watch the video all the way through, but alas, only 56 comments. Oh well! That is still $56 for WV, and you all know what that means…. we will just have to try again soon! If you are feeling giving today and would like to donate to this wonderful cause just visit www.firstgiving.com/captured

A big thanks to those who participated! xoxo

Paris casting call!!! The shoot is on us!

Weston and I will be doing a demo engagement shoot in Paris on April 4, 09 for our Boudoir Divas workshop attendees. We are looking for a loving, energetic couple who would want a photo shoot done in the City of Light, Paris! The shoot will be a few hours long, so even though you would have to pay for your own airfare, the shoot is on us. What a great excuse to spend a few days in Paris. I honestly cannot even begin to imagine how cool these images are going to look. Talk about cool artwork for your living room, I am almost jealous! ;) Above are some gorgeous images that are getting us really excited about the shoot. For more info please email us at info@boucherphotography.com Past clients will receive top priority, but the invitation is open to any couple.

Just checked out analytics and just yesterday we had a combined 450 viewers on our blogs. Wow! That rocks. But we want to know who you guys are! We want to see your blogs or if you’re a bride we want to send you a congrats. And come on friends, time to enter the world of commenting on blogs, Brian…. we know you are stalking us, as only a friend should of course. For that reason Weston (or WB, or Dub-Bee, as my friend Kimee calls him) and I made this little video. Bouchér makes WPPI’s “Studio of the Month” :: Wedding & Portrait Photographers International

About 4 months ago our studio received a phone call from WPPI with an offer to be their “studio of the month” for their monthly newsletter. We immediately jumped at the opportunity and did a phone interview for the featured article which outlines the past, present and future of our studio. It’s an exciting opportunity for Marissa and I as we’ve been going to WPPI since our first year in business and it’s one of the biggest associations/conventions in our industry that takes place each year in Las Vegas.

Check out the entire article by clicking on the image below or here to read the full story.

Bouchér gets “photo of the month” :: www.WeddingVendorsDirectory.com

Marissa and I were just informed by www.WeddingVendorsDirectory.com that one of our recent wedding images was awarded “Photo of the Month” for our image of Brooke & Jerrod at The Darlington House in La Jolla, CA. Marissa and I are honored to be on such a great site as it provides an easy way for engaged couples to find vendors that suit their specific wedding needs.

Studio Grand Opening a huge success! :: A big THANK YOU to everyone!

So the grand opening party for our studio was last week and it honestly couldn’t have gone better! Over 150 people showed up at one point; from clients to vendors to friends and family, it was seriously a full house! It was so great chatting with everyone and just observing them enjoy themselves. To keep everyone entertained we had an open tour of the studio, champagne and catered appetizers, a projector slideshow of all sorts of photos and videos, and then Melissa Vaughan playing live music. We also had a premiere viewing of Marissa & Kimee’s Boudoir Divas Workshop promo video that will be happening in Paris, France of next year. A big thanks to Vu & Lon from The Bui Brothers for an absolutely amazing job creating that video. Also thanks for coming out and supporting us Vu, glad you could watch the reaction to the premiere firsthand. Marissa and I had never thrown a party before but with the help of our amazing staff the elements just all came together. Oh also congrats to all our raffle winners! Thank you again everyone!

SHOUT OUTS:

First a big thanks to our wonderful studio staff for making this all possible…Crystal Carr, Deena Cormier, and Amanda McMillan. Kimee (www.kimberleewest.com) thank you so, so much for putting together the photo/video slideshow in record time! We love ya! Thanks for takin’ some snapshots too. We also wanted to thank Melissa Vaughan for providing beautiful live music for all our guests. You rock! Another big thanks goes out to Haydee @ Haydee’s Creative Flowers for letting us borrow all the candles and vases; great idea Haydee they looked sooo good! And thank you Maggie @ The Invisible Chef for providing the excellent variety of foods for everyone; I’m still working on all those leftover special cheeses at home! Oh and another thanks goes out to Crystal’s husband, Brian for volunteering to handle the champagne station; we owe you one big time! :) Thanks to my good buddy Jon Hasz @ Ramona Music Center for helping me with Melissa’s P.A. Thank you Eris (our cousin) for helping to prepare the studio sets for the grand opening! Thanks Melissa & Adam for making the long drive to come and support us, hope the canvas looks good on the wall!

Bouchér gets the cover! :: SD Style Weddings Magazine :: Editorial Dec. Jan. 08 Issue

Marissa and I had the amazing opportunity to shoot for one of the top Bridal Mags earlier this year (San Diego Style Weddings Magazine) and recently found out that our shots will be used for two different covers! One for Dec/Jan of this year and Aug/Sept of 2009. Several other shots taken will also be used for editorial pieces within certain issues such as the cake images below and other bridal gown shots. Some of these shots were scanned in so be forgiving on the color matching! :).

The shoot for the bridal gowns was on day 1 while day 2 consisted of all cake shots. Half the shots were done here at our Sorrento Valley studio while the outdoor shots were nearby at a dead end road location. Props to my good friend Brian MacKenzie for allowing us to use his 1965 Lincoln Continental during the shoot. This gave the cover shot below a perfect compliment since the dress was vintage inspired.

The shoot overall was a great experience for Marissa and I. We immediately knew that our biggest asset was to use everything that is unique to our brand and style of shooting to come up with our own spin on the look of the shots. Examples being that we used our own lighting, custom backdrops, and posing that is signature to our studio. Our boudoir portraiture style had a huge influence on all the shots as you’ll see some of the backdrops used for even the cake shots of all things. We didn’t really have a concrete plan for all the shots, which was intentional on our part. We knew what was available and also knew we would have more fun if we just ran with it loosely. Marissa and I are used to shooting on the fly since weddings are exactly that; so it worked out well. The outdoor shots were definitely at a tough time of the day out in direct sunlight but with the use of a single reflector (thanks Bri!) the lighting didn’t come off as harsh as it was in person.

Though stressful at times, knowing that while you’re shooting, you have up to 10 people at a time all behind you(stylists, hair/makeup artists, florists) observing, it’s encouraging to know that we performed and we’ll be able to handle that type of shooting environment in the future. We’re so thankful that Dena (SDSW Magazine Owner) even considered our studio in the first place and are extremely excited that her and the staff at SDSW were so happy with the shots.

The models were also really great; thank you Alexis & Niki. You were both a true pleasure to work with.  A big shout out goes to Haydee, Ellie, Joie, Dena, Kimberlee West, Crystal, Deena C., and Brian for all their help; as we could not have pulled it off without you guys!

I also included some extra shots that we took that day that were some of our faves.
